Hide your Kale Smoothie

Although I have been a fan of green smoothies for some time, I am still amazed that I can consume four servings (of fruit and vegetables) even before the clock strikes 8 (or, in our home, 11).

Green smoothies are something you may already know or not. Here are two facts you might not have known about green smoothies:

1. Keep your dark, leafy greens frozen so that you have them on hand at all times. It’s so pretty! It’s so fancy! It doesn’t change the taste or texture of your smoothie at all.

2. A smoothie can be made to hide the taste and texture. Not just a few handfuls of kale. Let’s get started!

This smoothie is different but the same as my Detox Smoothie. Both smoothies contain frozen bananas and berries, as well as fruit juice. This one is packed full of hemp seeds and hides the kale.

“Hey Sheila…why does that matter?” you’re probably wondering.

Sheila, Rhonda. Let me tell you. Hemp seed contains a lot of fiber, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and 20 essential amino acids, including the nine essential. All of this helps your body in almost every way. Hemp seeds are vital to your health.

Ingredients

  • One medium ripe Banana (previously sliced, frozen, and peeled // 1 banana yields about 34 cups)
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries (or sub blueberries)
  • Hemp seeds hulled (organic, if possible).
  • Kale, frozen or fresh (of any kind), 2 cups
  • 2/3 cup 100% pomegranate juice
  • Water filtered to 3/4-1 1/2 cups

Instructions

  • Blend all ingredients in a mixer until smooth. Add more water if necessary. Adjust flavors to taste. Add some bananas or agave to sweeten.
  • Serving immediately – 2 portions.
